Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why am I getting billed for ambulance service? I am a tax payer.

Answer: Fire departments are not required in Indiana to provide ambulance service.  This is an added service the fire department provides to ensure a quick response for those needing transported to the hospital for medical related issues.

2. I do not live in Avon, why did an ambulance from Avon come to my house?

Answer:  All 911 calls go through a central dispatching service.  If the ambulance in your particular area is unavailable serving someone else, the next closest available ambulance is sent to provide you with the medical needs you require.
