The Operations Division is the largest of four divisions within the Washington Township / Avon Fire Department. The primary responsibilities of its personnel are life safety, incident stabilization, and the preservation of property and the environment. The Washington Township / Avon Fire Department prides itself on operating as an "all hazard" emergency organization.
The Operations Division is comprised of 57 personnel on three shifts and includes 3 Fire Stations and 7 pieces of frontline apparatus including Engines, Ambulances, a Ladder Truck, and a Command Vehicle.
The Operations Division provides emergency response to fires, rescues, EMS calls and a myriad of public assistance calls 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Operations personnel are trained in Structural Firefighting, Emergency Medical Care, Hazardous Materials Response and Technical Rescue Operations. Technical Rescue Operations include Vehicle Extrication, High Angle Rescue, Trench Rescue, Confined Space Rescue and Swift Water Rescue.
