The Washington Township/Avon Fire Department employees 84 individuals assigned to various areas.

Members currently assigned to the operations division work a 24-hour-on/48-hour-off shift, responding from one of three firehouses. Each shift is commanded by a Battalion Chief, and each station is assigned a Lieutenant for each shift.

​We currently operate three engine companies, one ladder company, three transporting medic trucks, and an incident command vehicle. 40 of our operations personnel are certified at the paramedic level; all remaining members are EMTs.

The fire department is led by Fire Chief Dan Smith and supported by an administration staff of 12, which includes a Deputy Chief of Administration, a Deputy Chief of Operations, a Training Division Chief, a Prevention/Investigations Division Chief, a Director of Public Education, and a Director of Support Services. Our Fire Prevention and Investigations Division employs one full-time fire inspector and is overseen by the Fire Marshal.
