ABOUT US
The Washington Township/Avon Fire Department employs 102 members assigned to Fire Suppression, EMS, Community Risk Reduction, and Support Services. Members currently assigned to the Operations Division work a 24-hour-on/48-hour-off shift, responding from one of four firehouses. Each shift consists of a Battalion Chief, each house is assigned a Lieutenant and Engineer per fire suppression piece, each fire apparatus also has 2 back steppers assigned (one being preferred as a paramedic). We also provide exclusively ALS Medic Units. WTAFD continually strives to operate under the NFPA 1710 Standard on minimum staffing of 4 per fire apparatus and 2 per medic unit while maintaining ALS status at all times. The safety of our personnel and community are the priority. We currently operate three engine companies, one ladder company, four transporting medic trucks, and an incident command vehicle. All members of our department must be certified at the EMT level with over 40 of our current personnel licensed as Paramedics. ORGANIZATION
